Its purpose was migration: a merchant already integrated with Authorize.net could point the same integration at NMI&#039;s emulator URL and switch gateways without rewriting anything. Foxy&#039;s \u003Ccode class=\"badge bg-soft-danger text-danger\">NMI (Authorize.net emulation)\u003C\u002Fcode> option is that path — Foxy sending Authorize.net-format requests to NMI.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>It is a compatibility shim, not NMI&#039;s real API, and it inherits the emulator&#039;s limits. NMI states that the emulator does not support Authorize.net&#039;s XML AIM, CIM, ARB, DPM, Card Present or Transaction Details APIs. Foxy&#039;s native integration has no such ceiling, which is why the emulation entry is labelled deprecated.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Ch3>What &quot;deprecated&quot; means here in practice\u003C\u002Fh3>\u003Cp>The word sits inside the option&#039;s own display name, but the emulation entry is still a live, supported gateway type in Foxy — it is not switched off, it is not hidden, and transactions on it still process. &quot;Deprecated&quot; is a recommendation, not an expiry date:\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cul>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Existing merchants on it:\u003C\u002Fstrong> nothing breaks today. Your payment method keeps working and you do not have to act on any deadline that Foxy has announced.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>New merchants:\u003C\u002Fstrong> do not choose it. There is no functional reason to, and it gives you strictly less than the native integration.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Everyone:\u003C\u002Fstrong> treat it as a path that will not receive new capability. (The Live heading reads &quot;Live setup (inactive)&quot; while the payment method set has \u003Cem>Use live credentials\u003C\u002Fem> switched off — that reflects the state of the set, not a different set of fields.)\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Ch3>The Transaction Key field takes your password\u003C\u002Fh3>\u003Cp>This trips people up, so it is worth stating plainly: \u003Cstrong>on this native integration, Foxy&#039;s NMI integration does not use an NMI API key.\u003C\u002Fstrong> The field is called \u003Cstrong>Transaction Key\u003C\u002Fstrong> because that is Authorize.net&#039;s name for the second credential, and the label was carried over from Foxy&#039;s older Authorize.net-emulation NMI type without being renamed for the native API. The value Foxy wants in it here is the NMI user&#039;s password.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>Do not paste the API key or key ID from \u003Cstrong>Settings\u003C\u002Fstrong> in the NMI portal. Doing so is the most common cause of the response code 122 error described below.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>Note this mislabel is specific to the native integration. On the emulation path (below), &quot;Transaction Key&quot; is the genuinely correct name for that field, because the emulation path really does speak Authorize.net&#039;s wire protocol. Both NMI entries in the picker show the identical field label, which is exactly why it&#039;s confusing — the same words are accurate on one and wrong on the other.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Ch2>Migrating from the emulation path to the native integration\u003C\u002Fh2>\u003Cp>If you are currently on \u003Cstrong>NMI (Authorize.net emulation, deprecated)\u003C\u002Fstrong>, moving is straightforward, because both entries authenticate against the same thing: your NMI gateway username and password. On the emulation path NMI maps Authorize.net&#039;s API Login ID to your gateway username and its Transaction Key to your gateway password — which is exactly what Foxy&#039;s two fields already hold. Nothing about the credential model suggests a problem, but a subscription book is not the place to find out.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Ch2>Testing\u003C\u002Fh2>\u003Cp>Foxy provides shared test credentials for both NMI entries, so you can run test transactions without setting up your own account. Leave the \u003Cstrong>Test setup\u003C\u002Fstrong> fields as they are.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>Those shared credentials exercise the integration only. Your production NMI account may have settings — ticket limits, duplicate checks, enabled card types, AVS and CVV rules — that the shared test account does not, so a clean test run is not a guarantee about your live account.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Ch3>Obtaining a test account\u003C\u002Fh3>\u003Cp>If you need to test against your own account settings, contact your merchant service provider for a test account. One merchant resolved this by asking their account rep to set the window to 3 seconds and enable the merchant override option. Discuss it with your own account rep rather than treating those numbers as a prescription — this is reported user experience, not an NMI-documented fix.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003C\u002Fol>\u003Ch3>&quot;The processor response format is invalid&quot;\u003C\u002Fh3>\u003Cp>This comes from the processor behind NMI, not from Foxy. NMI support can tell you the reason, but the solution usually has to come from the processor directly.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>One known case: the processor returns \u003Ccode class=\"badge bg-soft-danger text-danger\">INV CVV2 MATCH\u003C\u002Fcode>, which NMI surfaces as a decline.
